🧭 Introduction

The moment of the first revelation of the Quran is one of the most important events in human history. It was not just a message — it was the beginning of guidance for all humanity.

It happened in a quiet cave called Ghar-e-Hira, located on Jabal al-Noor (Mountain of Light) near Makkah. This peaceful moment changed the course of history forever.

At that time, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to spend time in solitude, reflecting on life, truth, and the condition of his people.

🏔️ Ghar-e-Hira — The Cave of Reflection

Before prophethood, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ had a habit of going to Ghar-e-Hira.

He would:

  • Spend nights in worship and reflection
  • Avoid the noise and injustice of society
  • Think deeply about the purpose of life
  • Seek truth from the Creator of the heavens

This cave was small, quiet, and surrounded by mountains — a perfect place for spiritual reflection.

🌙 The Night of Destiny Begins

It was the month of Ramadan, a blessed time.

One night, while Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was in the cave, something extraordinary happened.

The silence of the cave was suddenly filled with a powerful presence — the Angel Jibreel (Gabriel) عليه السلام had arrived.

This was the first time Prophet Muhammad ﷺ experienced revelation.

📖 The First Words of Revelation

Angel Jibreel (AS) commanded him:

“Read!”

The Prophet ﷺ replied:

“I am not able to read.”

This happened three times.

Then Angel Jibreel (AS) revealed the first verses of the Quran:

📜 Surah Al-Alaq (96:1–5)

“Read in the name of your Lord who created.
Created man from a clot of blood.
Read, and your Lord is the Most Generous.
Who taught by the pen.
Taught man what he did not know.”

💔 Emotional Moment — The Weight of Revelation

After this powerful encounter, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ felt deeply shaken.

He returned home immediately to his wife, Khadijah (RA), saying:

  • “Cover me, cover me!”

He was physically and emotionally overwhelmed because:

  • The experience was unlike anything human before
  • The message carried great responsibility
  • It marked the beginning of prophethood

Khadijah (RA) comforted him with love and calmness.

🤲 Khadijah (RA) — The First Support

Khadijah (RA) became the first person to support him.

She reassured him by saying:

  • Allah would never disgrace a person like him
  • He always helped the poor and supported the weak
  • He always spoke the truth and maintained good relations

She took him to her cousin Waraqah ibn Nawfal, who was knowledgeable about previous scriptures.

🧠 Waraqah ibn Nawfal’s Confirmation

After hearing the story, Waraqah said:

  • This was the same Angel (Jibreel) who came to Prophet Moses (AS)
  • Muhammad ﷺ has been chosen as a Prophet
  • His people may reject him and cause harm

This confirmed that a new era of guidance had begun.

🌍 The Beginning of Prophethood

From this moment, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ became the Final Messenger of Allah.

This event marked:

  • The start of Islam
  • The beginning of Quran revelation
  • A global spiritual transformation

But the mission was not easy. It came with:

  • Opposition
  • Hardship
  • Patience and struggle

Yet the message continued to spread.

The first revelation is important because:
