Musallah Jibreel

Musallah Jibreel (also called Mujjan) is a revered site located at the base of the Kaaba in Mecca. It holds deep historical importance as the place where Angel Jibreel taught Prophet Muhammad ﷺ the method of performing the five daily prayers after the Night Journey (Isra and Mi’raj).Musallah Jibreel (also called Mujjan) is a revered site located at the base of the Kaaba in Mecca.Positioned on the Shadharawan—the slanted marble base—on the lower right side near the Kaaba’s door, this sacred spot is distinguished by eight rare marble pieces known as “Mary Stone.” These stones are believed to have been presented by the Abbasid Caliph Abu Jafar al-Mansur.

According to Hadith, Jibreel led the Prophet ﷺ in prayer at this exact location ten times over two days—demonstrating each prayer both at its beginning and its end—to establish the proper method and timing of Salah. The marble pieces differ in size, with the largest measuring around 33 cm by 21 cm.
Although it carries immense spiritual significance, Musallah Jibreel is not currently used for regular congregational prayers.
